High Nitrogen Fertilization Modulates Morpho-Physiological Responses, Yield, and Water Productivity of Lowland Rice under Deficit Irrigation

چکیده
Sustainability of rice production under flooding conditions has been challenged by water shortage and food demand. Applying higher nitrogen fertilization could be a practical solution to alleviate the deleterious effects stress on lowland (Oryza sativa L.) in semi-arid conditions. For this purpose, field experiments were conducted during summer 2017 2018 seasons. These trials as split-split based randomized complete blocks design with soil moisture regimes at three levels (120, 100 80% crop evapotranspiration (ETc), fertilizers two (N1—165 N2—200 kg N ha−1) Egyptian varieties [V1 (Giza178), V2 (Giza177) V3 (Sakha104)] using replications. all varieties, growth (plant height, tillers No, effective no), status ((relative content RWC, membrane stability index, MSI), physiological responses (chlorophyll fluorescence, Relative chlorophyll (SPAD), yield significantly increased addition fertilizer regimes. Variety V1 produced highest grain compared other increases 38% 15% V3, respectively. Increasing up 200 ha−1 (N2) resulted an increase straw yields 12.7 18.2%, respectively, N1. The irrigation productivity (IWP) was recorded I2 (0.89 m−3) (0.83 (0.82 for I1 I3, Therefore, new applied agro-management practice (deficit fertilizer) effectively saved input 50–60% when traditional cultivation method (flooding system). Hence, proposed innovative promising strategy enhancing sustainability

Impact of water and nitrogen management strategies on maize yield and water productivity indices under linear-move sprinkler irrigation
With uncertainty in future irrigation water availability and regulations on nutrient application amounts, experimentally determined effects of “controllable” management strategies such as nitrogen (N), water, and their combination on crop water productivity (CWP, also known as crop water use efficiency) and actual evapotranspiration (ETa) are essential. The effects of various N application rate...
متن کاملEffects of Superabsorbents on Growth and Physiological Responses of Date Palm Seedling under Water Deficit Conditions
Irrigation is an inevitable part of agriculture which determines crop yield and thus food security. In modern era of agriculture, crop yield is determined on the basis of crop production per unit of water-use instead of crop production per land unit area. Deficit irrigation is introduced as a strategy for controlling water resources that leads to water resource preservation. Date palm requires...
متن کاملYield and Physiological Responses of Modern versus Obsolete Cultivars Grown under Water-deficit Conditions
Year-to-year variability in yield is a major concern in U.S. cotton production. Recent literature and hypotheses indicate that this yield variability is mostly related to extreme environmental conditions, particularly high temperatures and drought, as well as a peak in genetic improvements in yield. It is speculated that modern and obsolete cultivars partition dry matter and energy pools differ...
